POLICIES THAT SUCK

(This) book is one of the few out there that really gives you the information you need when dealing with the finances of admitting a loved one into a nursing home. After I read this book, my family and I went to an attorney who "specializes" in elder law. This turned out to be incorrect, and the advice he gave was incomplete and just plain wrong. If we hadn't had (this) book at our disposal, we would have unknowingly accepted the other lawyer's recommendations without realizing that they would have cost a huge portion of needed funds. DON'T ASSUME THAT AN "ELDER LAW ATTORNEY" KNOWS ALL THE INTRICACIES OF MEDICAID LAW! READ THIS BOOK! (And THEN double-check the most up-to-date laws to make sure nothing has changed since this printing.)

Policies that suck

• Did not alert me to this serious medication warning.

• Did not advise of lower cost generic for Glucotrol.

• Would not refill until I run out of medication.
Fact: Costco Web Pharmacy never advised me that one of my medications was found to cause liver failure. The manufacturer had issued a "black box" warningthe most serious health warning they can post. This medication is no longer prescribed in Europe, similar efforts are underway in the USA, and there are even class action lawsuit websites. Costco Web Pharmacy has not warned me over 1-year later!
"Apparently you have to run out of medication before they dispense more...their attitude was that if you can’t live with that (no pun intended) then you should stand in line at your local pharmacy when you have run out of medicine."
Warnings that should be placed at the online Web Pharmacy

Costco Web Pharmacy should immediately post the following warnings on the Costco website:

• Web Pharmacy will not re-fill prescriptions until the #days since filling equals the #pills times the #per day. This calculation will not factor in the obvious time delay in shipping the medication to you in the first instance, nor consider the time to fill and ship the next prescription.

You have to run out of medication before we will consider giving you more. If you can’t live with that (no pun intended) then you should stand in line at your local pharmacy and not bother us.
